(Paid) Web Design Intern
About Us:
Founded in 1992, Multimedia Solutions is an established and growing web development company located at the border of NYC/NJ. We are a custom provider of full-service web development, digital marketing, social media marketing, and mobile solutions. Our internship program provides design students or recent graduates practical work experience in web design. Interns will be working closely with the Executive Creative Director on client projects. If you are a skilled design student that works well in a team environment and would like to experience creating communication for Fortune 1000 companies, please read on.
Requirements:
- Possess strong interface design skills.
- Must be proficient in Photoshop and other graphics packages (Illustrator, Image Ready, etc.)
- Knowledge of HTML editor is preferred.
- Candidate should have exposure to typography, identity design, interface design or other creative disciplines.
- Experience with Adobe Flash is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience with Responsive Design is a plus but not mandatory.
- Candidate should have strong client interface skills—understand the creative objectives, brainstorm creative needs, manage timelines and expectations.
- Understanding of social media applications and trends is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to work on projects for various clients to interpret and translate their brand needs into effective communication on web.
- Work with internal team members to provide creative recommendations for concept, design, production, and quality control.
- Work on interface designs, logos, and working prototypes for the website.
- Conduct research and analysis to improve usability, accessibility, and functionality.
- Engage in information architecture, and user experience.
- Organize projects and production processes to ensure completion in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Follow and give oral and written directions.

Usability Research and Usability Evaluations
Plan, organize and lead usability analysis to assess usability of large scale enterprise application consisting of a substantial quantity of data entry and data maintenance screens (web-based). Collect and analyze data necessary to understand user needs and learn their characteristics including conducting interviews and observing key user groups to understand their motivations, fears, triggers for actions and mental models
Development of Usability Standards and Guidelines
Translate workflow requirements and user research into functional and usability requirements guidelines for use by application development team
Conceptual Design and Prototyping
Create conceptual user interface designs to increase efficiency and enhance the user experience.
Usability Consultation and Auditing
In collaboration with Program Manager, develop and manage processes to review, evaluate against developed usability standards and guidelines, and provide feedback (via usability audit) for the production of ongoing user interface screens developed for the application.
Required Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:

interface design for web sites, software, and/or web-based applications and in evaluating existing interfaces utilizing accepted principles (heuristics) and task-based methods
Web-based information architecture or equivalent field

Internet Project Manager
